this GT40 mkII with a Holman Moody 427 was ordered by Shelby American, placed 2nd in the 12 hour Sebring in 66, DNF'd at LeMans and was driven by Mark Donohue in both. It then went on the show circuit, before getting stored at Holman Moody until '70 when it went to the Indy Speedway Museum. Effectively, it's been raced hard and put away, without being street driven, ever. http://www.carguychronicles.com/2012/05/ford-gt40-mark-ii-like-new-hardly.html

the 1999 McClaren Emergency safety kit for drivers

it included jumper cables, a 1 gallon fuel can with disposable bladders, air compressor, siphon pump, reflective triangle, tow strap, flashlight, flares, first aid kit, fuses, lock thaw, leatherman, latex gloves, coveralls, piloce aid sign, handwipes, and a rag. All fitting in a spare tire area.

Know what else should be in there?  A hand crank radio to listen to while you wait for a ride, 100 dollars, a credit card, a twinkie and a YooHoo.

literally back from the grave, buried in a backyard to save it, and found with a metal detector. 1899 Orient Autogo now concours

80% original parts, and the rest had to be made. There are only 3 known survivors of this make and model.

Waltham Manufacturing in Massachusetts sold it originally as an engined tricycle for $600, it came with a conversion kit to make it into a four-wheeled vehicle that could transport two people.

A driver would pedal the kerosene-headlighted Orient Autogo to start it, then turn on the engine. The levers include one for the brakes and three for the carburetor

this will be at the Concours of the Americas in Plymouth Michigan tomorrow http://concoursusa.org/

bikes can take a lot of bad weather, and a lot of soap suds. Who knew? I never see rain, much less wet bikes

Thanks Will!

Rare aluminum Ford 9n tractor parts were made, due to tooling delays with the steel parts

Early in 1939, as Ford and Ferguson rolled out the first 9N tractors, a tooling delay prevented Ford from having several of the stamped-steel components available for the assembly line. As a result, the first production run of about 700 9N tractors featured aluminum hoods, timing covers, steering columns, grilles and several other parts, which were then painted gray like the rest of the tractor before being sold. As these tractors continued their working life on the farm, many of the aluminum components became dented or mangled and by then, replacements were available from Ford parts suppliers. Replacement parts in steel, that is.

The Buick GN gets it's own movie doumentary!

found on http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2012/07/19/coming-soon-the-other-dark-knight-film/

Next month, Buick performance enthusiasts will get a sneak peak at a documentary film that shines the spotlight on the hottest car to roll out of Flint in the last 25 years when the first 20 minutes of Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary will be shown at the Buick Performance Group Nationals on August 4 at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH. The film is scheduled to be released in early December.
Filmmaker Andrew Filippone Jr. has spent four years tracking down Buick GN and GNX owners, racers and collectors, as well as members of the media who road tested the cars, plus the key players responsible for engineering, styling and marketing at Buick and General Motors.
In the documentary, Filippone said he attempted to explore new territory (for a car film), delving into issues of culture, social class, inheritance, and privilege as it related to the turbocharged V-6 Buicks, and away from the usual focus on mechanics and performance.
